Because yesterday was Otis Redding's birthday, I have to post this set. You see, Otis is one of those artists that I truly love.

Now, I imagine most rbally readers know (Sitting On) The Dock of the Bay, a song that has been featured in innumerable greatest hits collections and movie soundtracks.

And if that's as far as you've gone with Otis . . . well, then take a chance, and let this set be your introduction to one of the greatest American singers. Seriously, Otis recorded many great songs that deserve your attention. Even more, Otis was an amazing live performer, and rbally readers deserve a sample.

Now, if you like this set, you should check out In Person at the Whiskey A Go Go. You see, this show is one of several recorded at the Whiskey over several days (with Dylan in the audience at some point). The best tracks from these shows were subsequently mastered and released as In Person at the Whiskey A Go Go, one of the few live CDs that I think is worth a listen . . . honestly, the versions I've posted are fine as an introduction to Otis, but if you like these tracks you should pick up the CD. You really should hear Otis perform without the hiss and shortcomings of this bootleg . . . .
